High school is the perfect time to start exploring your future career options. Whether you already have an idea or are still deciding, use these years to learn about yourself and gain valuable experiences.

Steps to Take:

  • Discover your interests: Think about what you like, dislike, and what motivates you.
  • Explore careers: Research different industries and emerging fields. Ask yourself: If I could have any job right now, what would it be — and why?
  • Gain experience: Look for part-time jobs, volunteer work, or internships for high school students. These experiences build skills and strengthen applications.
  • Stay flexible: Your career path may change — and that’s okay! Plans can shift as you grow and learn more about yourself.
  • Use resources: Career assessments and exploration tools can help you find careers you may not have considered before.

Remember:

  • Every career journey is different.
  • It’s okay to change your mind.
  • A career is not a life sentence.
  • If something doesn’t feel right, ask yourself:
    • What am I good at?
    • What do I enjoy doing?
