Principal's Message

Welcome to Mount Pleasant High School!
My name is Dalton Stone, and I’m proud to serve as the principal of Mount Pleasant Community High School. I grew up in Richland, Iowa—a small town northwest of Mount Pleasant—and graduated from Pekin High School. I earned my undergraduate degree from Buena Vista University, then began my teaching career at Evans Middle School in Ottumwa. While teaching, I pursued and completed my Educational Leadership degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
As principal, I’m honored to lead a school where students are encouraged to grow—not just academically, but also as leaders, teammates, and responsible citizens. Our mission is to “Empower Students to Achieve Without Limits,” and I believe we do this by creating a culture and a learning environment that challenges, supports, and inspires every student. We are fortunate to have an exceptional staff who are committed to making that mission a reality.
High school is about more than just grades and tests. It’s about building character, learning resilience, and preparing for life after graduation. At Mount Pleasant High School, we believe in doing things the right way, working hard, and treating others with respect. These core values guide everything we do.
I’m excited about the opportunities this school year holds and look forward to working alongside our students, families, and staff to create a meaningful and successful experience for all.
Let’s make it a great year!
Dalton Stone
