Jeff Batty Bio

Welcome to my district page. I am glad to have an opportunity to share my experience and educational background with parents and students.

I am a Social Studies teacher at Mt Pleasant Community High School and currently teach Economics and Government. In past years at Mt Pleasant I taught World Events and Religions, Ancient Civilizations and U.S. History.

In 1987, I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and in 1988 I completed a second Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Since graduating from Iowa State I have had many different positions in education and in business. I taught for two years in Alaska with the Bering Strait School District, worked for Spirit Label Corporation as the Customer Service Manager and also taught Social Studies for 7 years for the Winfield Mt-Union School District. I have also owned and operated my own business and I served 22 years with the Army National Guard and Army Reserves, retiring as a Signal Instructor. In 2006, I received my Master of Arts in Education from Viterbo University.

Besides my work in the classroom, I also coach the 7th Grade Football Team and have been a member of the Social Studies Cadre.

I enjoy spending time with my wife Jennifer and my three sons Javin, Jared and Colin. Outside of school I am an avid Football and Basketball fan. Go Vikings!!!
